Daily Devotion Wednesday August 10, 2005
This week's devotions are written by members of our Tanzanian Mission team
(plus a few supporters) which is traveling to Tanzania August 11th and will
return on August 22nd. We pray for their safety as they do God's work in a
new and exciting place! Today's author is Missionary Lois Schlachter.
Psalm 143:10
Help me to do your will, for you are my God. Lead me in good paths for your
Spirit is good.
This psalm was written by David as a prayer for deliverance and guidance
after the rebellion of his son Absalom. It is the last of seven Penitential
Psalms.
"Help me to do your will"
To be found doing the will of God is the only safe state for man. Not only
teach me to do thy will, but show me what thy will is and teach me how to do
it, to fulfill my duty to the Lord. It is the desire and will of all God's
faithful servants to know and to do his will.
"For you are my God"
Thou art my God therefore, my authority by whom I may be advised. You are
my God and therefore my ruler shoes will I desire to do and depend upon Him
to teach me to do his will.
"Lead me in right paths"
A good man does not ask which way is the most pleasant, but which way is the
right way. Lead us into the land of righteousness and into the communion of
saint. We can not find the way into that land unless God shows us, nor go
into the way unless he takes us by the hand and leads us as we lead others.
"For your Spirit is good"
We that have the Lord for our God have his Spirit for our Guide, and it is
our privilege that we are led by that Spirit. God will lead us in life,
maybe not in the easy ways that we would like, but in the right way. We
pray for our mission group and the people we serve in Africa and for the
people at Zion. May we be led by God into the land of righteousness with
the communion of saints.
Our Tanzanian mission group as believers in Christ,
are thankful that we have the Spirit as our guide.
