Daily Devotion Tuesday August 16, 2005

This week's devotions are written by members of our Tanzanian Mission team
(plus a few supporters) who are currently in Tanzania and will return on
August 22nd.  We pray for God's guidance and protections  as they do his
work in a new and exciting place! The devotion for today is written by
missionary supporter, Kelsay Ludwig.

 

In Christ there is no East or West - Lutheran Book of Worship 359

 

In Christ there is no east or west, in him no south or north,

But one great fellowship of love throughout the whole wide earth.

 

In him shall true hearts ev'rywhere their high communion find;

His service is the golden cord close-binding all mankind.

 

Join hands then, brothers of the faith, whate'er your race may be.

Who serves my Father as a son is surely kin to me.

 

In Christ now meet both east and west, in him meet south and north;

All Christly souls are one in him throughout the whole wide earth.

 

In Christ meet east and west, south and north.  In, with, and through you,
Christ is making two worlds meet!  What will you see when they join?  You
will see service, compassion, and love.  You will see your traveling
companions becoming "little Christs" (as Martin Luther liked to say) to the
people of Africa.  I am honored to be praying for your work in Africa.  May
you be amazed daily by the presence of Christ as he brings brothers and
sisters of the faith together, "whate'er their race may be!"  

 

Lord God of all the Nations, bless us, your missionaries to one another and
to the world.  Grant us determination, strength, and purpose.  Guide us,
lead us, renew us so that we might become your instruments of peace and hope
in Africa.  We love because you first loved us by giving us your Son, in
whose name we pray, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen
