Daily Devotion Wednesday August 17, 2005
This week's devotions are written by members of our Tanzanian Mission team
(plus a few supporters) which is in Tanzania and will return on August 22nd.
We pray for their safety as they do God's work in a new and exciting place!
Today's devotion is written by Missionary, Justin Girbach.
Matthew 6:1-4
"Beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them;
for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven. So whenever you
give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the
synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be praised by others. Truly
I tell you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not
let your left hand know what your right hand is doing., so that your alms
may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
My reaction to this paragraph is that this is the reason we are going to
Tanzania. We don't want people to think that we are just going so we can be
noticed for the things that we are doing but we are going to help people
that could use help and supplies.
