Daily Devotion Thursday August 25, 2005

This week's devotions are written by Pastor Ludwig and are based upon the
opening greetings found in letters of the New Testament.

 

1 Peter 1:1-2 (RSV)

To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the
Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

 

Thought

St. Paul was not married and had no children and yet he could call Titus (a
co-worker in God's Kingdom) his "true child."  Believing in Jesus Christ as
our Lord and together "being the church" makes us a part of a family that
cannot be broken. Over my years in ministry I have seen my share of families
that are joined together in name only. The church however is a family that
is joined together in a Savior who has shed his blood for them and brought
wholeness and healing. We are a people who have received, "grace and peace
from God the Father and Christ Jesus the Lord." This day, as the swift
currents of life bounce you to and fro remember that you are not alone but
are a part of a family whose unity and strength comes not from itself but
from the Son of God.
