This week's devotions are written by Kelsay Ludwig and are based upon
biblical references in contemporary music.
"Doubting Thomas" Nickel Creek
I'm a doubting Thomas,
I can't keep my promises
I don't know what's safe.
Oh me of little faith.
Thought
Oh me of little faith. It's easier to hear Jesus reprimand the disciples-
"Oh ye of little faith", isn't it? But these words-direct, personal, "Oh me
of little faith." They cut us to the heart because we have felt them many
times before. How often in our lives do we feel the assurance of faith
slipping away in light of natural disaster, human cruelty and malice, and
the assault of fatal diseases. There are many things that threaten to crush
our faith, to turn us into "me's of little faith."
There is one thing that stands in the way, and that is a promise. A promise
so tested, so true, so faithfully kept; that even "me's of little faith"
know that it is "safe." It the promise made to you by your God. The
promise to never leave you, the promise to love you, and to forgive you.
Almighty God, increase our faith, for it sometimes feels so small. Give us
faith to follow the example of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
