Daily Devotion Wednesday August 31, 2005
This week's devotions are written by Kelsay Ludwig and are based upon
biblical and Christian references in contemporary music.
"Humble Me" Norah Jones
Went out on a limb
Gone too far
Broken down at the side of the road
Stranded at the outskirts and sun's creepin' up
Baby's in the backseat
Still fast asleep
Dreamin' of better days
I don't want to call you but you're all I have to turn to
You humble me lord
Humble me Lord
I'm on my knees empty
You humble me Lord
You humble me Lord
Please, please, please forgive me.
Thought
It's our nature to exhaust all other possibilities before turning to
God.waiting until he is "all we have to turn to." Or to only turn to God
when we feel there is something "big" enough; "worthy" enough, to mention to
an almighty God in prayer. Scripture exhorts us to pray always. Problems-
big ones and small ones; Joys- small ones and big ones; all these are reason
for talking with God. And yes, it is humbling to know that no matter what
our prayer, even our unspoken prayers, God is listening, bending his hear
intently toward us offering us forgiveness and hope.
Good heavenly Father, send us your Holy Spirit so that we might know how to
pray. Help us to give voice to our prayer, to speak to you in all things.
Amen
