Daily Devotion Monday December 26, 2005
The devotions this week are written by Pastor Ludwig who asks the question,
"Now What?"
Luke 2: 20
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had
heard and seen, as it had been told them.
Now What?
It is the day after Christmas and things are beginning to return to
"normal." For some of us it is back to work for others it is rehabilitating
the house after all the quests have departed. Luke's comment about the
shepherds' return after their trip to the manger makes me wonder if anyone
can ever be the same after standing in the presence of the Savior, Jesus.
Luke implies that the shepherds were changed men. These coarse first century
hirelings (not unlike our 19th century cowboys), glorified and praised God.
They were no longer the same men.
How shall we think and live and prioritize after standing again at the
manger in the presence of our Savior. How can we maintain the same
prejudices? How can we turn a deaf ear the cries of those who Rose Martin
(director of Peace Neighborhood) calls the "have-nots?" How can we allow
the current difficulties of our nation and world to rob us of joy and hope?
No, like the shepherds may we be in the midst of personal transformation.
God has done it! God has sent us the Savior who is Christ the Lord. Let our
hearts be renewed and our minds reshaped to reflect the good news of God's
grace.
