Daily Devotions Tuesday July 5, 2005

This week's e-devotions are being written by Pastor Ludwig and based upon
one of his favorite Hebrew Scripture texts, Micah 6:8.

Micah 6: 8

He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of
you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your
God?

Thought

I have a confession to make. I am disappointed with a form of Christianity
that centers upon the believer's inner feelings and focuses mostly upon what
God is going to do for the believer. There are far too many preachers who
only speak warm and fuzzy sentiments about God. Don't get me wrong. God does
care about you and me individually. I am certain of that. God does intervene
in our lives with acts of compassion and mercy. I am certain of that. Jesus
Christ gave his life on a cross of suffering for your salvation and mine. I
am absolutely convinced of this truth.

But God's faithful acts of love and mercy toward us should catapult us into
a life that is transformed by his grace. Micah reminds us that God has hopes
and expectations for us that flow out of our response to his love. For the
next three days we will look at the Biblical meanings of justice, kindness
and walking humbly with God. In the meantime give thanks to God and ask for
God's wisdom and energy to live out His JKH.
