Daily Devotion Friday November 18, 2005
The devotions this week are written by Pastor David Hendricks. He writes of
the Kingship of Jesus.
Prayer of the Day for Christ the King Sunday
Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore all things to you
beloved Son, whom you anointed priest forever and king of all creation:
Grant that all people of the earth, now divided by the power of sin, may be
united under the glorious and gentle rule of your Son, our lord Jesus
Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and
forever. Amen
Know that the Lord is God. It is God that made us, and we are (Gods); we
are (Gods) people, and the sheep of the (Lords) pasture. (Psalm 100)
I sure mess things up. The other day I was working on the trim for some
windows we had put in at our house. I must have wasted several small trees
before I finally got it done correctly. I feel like I have done that more
often than I care to admit when it comes to my family, my call as a pastor,
as a friend to others, and as a follower of Jesus Christ.
Whenever I mess things up I begin to wonder about myself and my ability to
get it right. I then remember that I cant get it right. Thanks be to God
there is King Jesus! King Jesus gets it done right! He reigns forever and
I (WE) can take comfort and rejoice in his victory over sin, death, and
evil. King Jesus reigns above us and rides among as the one who got it
right. As the spiritual proclaims, Ride on King Jesus, ride on, no man can
a-hinder me. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. Jesus Christ, first and
last, no man works like him. King Jesus reigns with God and keeps moving
to that point in which he will come in all his wonder to let us all do it
right!
Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto, sicut erat in principio et nunc et
semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Glory be to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall
be, world without end. Ride on King Jesus. We are waiting for you to come
to us. Amen! Amen!
