Monday November 21, 2005

This week's devotions are being written by Karen Ludwig: who is very
thankful for  the opportunity to "Think on Thanks"   The vehicle for  the
thinking is the hymn: "Now Thank We All Our God", a favorite of mine through
many years!

 

VERSE 1

Now thank we all our God With hearts and hands and voices, 

Who wondrous things hath done, In whom His world rejoices; 

Who from our mother' arms, Hath blessed us on our way 

With countless gifts of love, And still is ours today.

 

Thought

When should we be thanking God?  NOW  states the first word of the hymn.

That's because God has given us so much that we need every possible moment
for thanksgiving in order to stay current! 

What are those wondrous things God has done for you? Take a writing
implement, piece of paper and make a list of your Wondrous gifts from God-

 Family: write their names down and say thank you-

Friends-write their names down and say thank you-

A roof over your head-- transportation whether owned, leased, or public,
employment- be thankful for these, 

Because God is so gracious-you will not be able to finish the list in the
time you have-and REJOICE that the list is countless

I am aware that many of us have other burdens we are carrying at this time,
loss of health, family members, employment, these are not to be ignored-but
stay tuned for further thoughts on that-

And Be thank FULL
