Daily Devotions Thursday October 6, 2005
The devotions this week are written by Pastor Ludwig who continues the
2005-2006 Zion Theme, "Who is Jesus," by exploring the "I AM" statements of
Jesus in the Gospel of John.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way."
I am not good with directions and maps are only more confusing. Before I
leave the church office to make a first time visit to a member or
prospective member, Micki Nixon arms me with a Google map and hand written
directions. My family long ago banned me from reading maps and giving
directions when we go on family outings and vacations. I love maps, just
can't read 'em!
The direction of our life is rarely clear and the maps are few and rarely
accurate. A week ago a new Mom said to me, there just are no clear and
certain directions on how to be a parent. True enough. There are times in
our life when we are in fact, downright lost. How shall we find our way?
Jesus tells us that He is "the" way. If we keep our eyes and hearts focused
upon him as we live this day and finish out this week then we shall arrive
safely, even when we are not sure where we will arrive. We may not be able
to read maps, but we know the one who can.
