Daily Devotion Tuesday September 20, 2005

This week's devotions are written by Pastor Ludwig and are based upon well
known Biblical "one-liners."

 

Psalm 118:24

This is the day which the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  

 

All of my life, I have struggled to get up in the morning. I have always
blamed it upon my metabolism but in truth the warmth and comfort of my bed
has always been somewhat more appealing than the unknowns of the world that
I must face. As a child, my Mother would come into my room each morning and
throw open the shades and boldly proclaim, "Let the blessed sun shine in."
Only in later years would I begin to appreciate the optimism and inner joy
of my Mom.

The psalmist bursts out in a lovely "one-liner" that optimism and simple
trust.  Every day is a gift from God and has unseen potential for joy; if
not your own than for the opportunity for you to give joy to another person.
Either way, we win. Whatever is before you this day, rejoice for it is a
gift from God.
