Daily Devotions Tuesday, April 4, 2006
The Daily Devotions this week are written by Karen Ludwig. During the season
of Lent, the theme of Zion's Wednesday services (5 & 7pm) is based upon our
congregational set of values. Those values flow from the person and name of
Jesus (Justice, Energy to witness, Spiritual maturity, Understanding the
radical nature of Grace, Service to those in need). This week we explore
Service to those in need.
Micah 6:8
He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of
you
but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Thought
How does one "do" justice?
Let me try to make "sense "of this-
It begins with sight-- having a vision that is not "tunnel vision": One
that tries to see the needs of those whose resources are limited and
further---
Putting our money where our "mouth is" as the old phrase says-- giving us
the opportunity to use our treasures to enrich others.
Add to that hearing-hearing the cries of those who are in pain, emotional,
physical, spiritual and reaching out to them and-
Touching them through our love and concern
Throw in our "knows"-knowing what God would have us to do for others using
what we have been given: time and our talents.
Make sense? I hope it gives you something to think about-because God does
require it of us.
Pray for God to make sense out of it for you--
We need to NOT begrudge others what they "have" but encourage them to invest
wisely
