Daily Devotions Friday, April 7, 2006
The Daily Devotions this week are written by Karen Ludwig. During the season
of Lent, the theme of Zions Wednesday services (5 & 7pm) is based upon our
congregational set of values. Those values flow from the person and name of
Jesus (Justice, Energy to witness, Spiritual maturity, Understanding the
radical nature of Grace, Service to those in need). This week we explore
Service to those in need.
Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see
your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
Thought
God wants us all to be good looking Hows that you may ask?
Letting our light shine is making others aware of our presenceour presence
is represented by the works we are doing in and among others, at home, at
work, at school- and they need to be seeing good works
Are you still with me?
The reason for looking good is that it acknowledges WHO is in our hearts
as Lord. WHO is motivating our actions. Sooo--Letting our light shine is
something that opens us to scrutiny. By what we DO or dont do.
Are you ready to be scrutinized for the works you are doing? When you were
baptized you became a child of Godno more living in darkness.
We have been given so much: resources of funds and food, goods and services,
knowledge and abilities-lets use it to let our light shine before othersto
do good works and to give glory to the One who has given us all we have.
God our Father, Savior and Sanctifierhelp us keep the light shining before
others!
