Daily Devotions Thursday July 27, 2006
The devotions this week are written by Karen Ludwig to reflect a Hiker's
Lord's Prayer. Anyone who ventures into the outdoors may appreciate the
intent of this reflection, the result of a recent backpacking trip in the
Appalachian Mountains.
Give us this day our daily bread,
Food is something to think about on the trail and plan for-can't carry heavy
stuff so you resort to freeze dried meals, granola, gorp, Cliff Bars, dried
fruit. And you are thankful for times when you can enter a "wayside" and
treat yourself to a malt, or a hot dog. And you are thankful for the energy
you receive from the foods you eat because it restores your depleted energy.
And we should be SO THANKFUL for the plethora of food options we have in our
everyday lives.
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Family and Friends and Fractures are something to also think about on the
trail--As you wind your way up and down the mountains with no iPods to
distract, you think about relationships in your life-ones that need your
forgiveness and ones for which you need to be forgiven. And you are thankful
for times when your loved ones have put up with you when you were difficult
to be around. And you should be SO THANKFUL for the love you share with
those key people in you life.
Be SO THANKFUL today for food and friends and family-and FORGIVENESS
