Daily Devotions Wednesday March 22, 2006

The Daily Devotions are this week are written by Pastor Barry Ludwig. During
the season of Lent, the theme of Zion's Wednesday services (5 & 7pm) is
based upon our congregational set of values. Those values flow from the
person and name of Jesus (Justice, Energy to witness, Spiritual maturity,
Understanding the radical nature of Grace, Service to those in need). This
week we explore Spiritual Maturity.

Hebrews 10: 24-25

"Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Let us not give up meeting together."

Thought

Friends bring out the very best in us. They are able to see through our
pretense and call us to self-honesty. Like no one else (other than God or
our boss) they can hold us accountable. Friends will love us even when we
feel unlovable. The author of the letter to the Hebrew Christians reminds
us that intentional Christian friendships are a part of the gift which God
gives us. In these friendships we can spur one another on to lives of deeper
faith and service. Together we are made strong in Christ. Such bonds are
not made in worship on Sunday morning. They are formed through time together
in prayer and Bible Study as well as fishing and going to movies together!

Seek out a Christian small group. It is a place to grow in Spiritual
maturity. Jesus said, "wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there
I shall be in the middle of them!"
