Daily Devotions Wednesday, May 24, 2006

After a three week break, E-devos are back! The Daily Devotions this week
are written by Pastor Ludwig. The theme for this week is "God's rascals."
God chooses everyday sinners to carry forth his promise to the world. Could
that include you and me?

Exodus 2: 11ff - Moses

One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and saw their
forced labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his kinsfolk. He
looked this way and that, and seeing no one he killed the Egyptian and hid
him in the sand.

Thought

When you think of Moses, don't you just think of a confident, manly but
humble Charleton Heston? First let me remind you that Heston was just
acting and second let me remind you that Moses was a murderer, at times a
coward, and he suffered from poor impulse control. These are simply not
leadership qualities. Yet he would lead God's people through the Sinai
wilderness and finally to the promised land. He did not have the character
or the courage for that, but God did and God never gave up on Moses.

Have there been times when you have given up on yourself? God has not given
up on you. Take a moment right now to pray. Thank God personally for such
confident love and ask God to come again this day and fill you with
character and courage. It is God's amazing way.
