Daily Devotions Monday October 9, 2006

The devotions this week are written by Karen Ludwig. The devotions direct
your thoughts to the theme of walking: God walking with us, our walking with
God.

God is a walker---

Genesis 3:8

They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden at the time of
the evening breeze.

What an intimate picture of our Creator. The previous verses set forth the
heavy duty work of creation, not something configured via computer assisted
design, but a world set into existence through the direct "hands on"
artistry of our God. This powerful Creator then chooses to be among his
creation. He isn't viewing it from "above" . He walks in the garden that he
has created, refreshed by the cool evening breeze. I would like to think he
was reveling in the beauty and diversity of the plants and animals.

God is a "walker" and for those of us who walk a little or a lot we can
understand how exhilarating it is seeing the leaves turning shades of brown,
yellow and red, the soybeans yellow -green against the brown stalks of corn,
orange pumpkins dotting the fields as mums of bronze, scarlet, yellow, pink
and mauve proliferate on porches and decks.

As you walk this week-look at all that the Creator has made for you- to
refresh and renew and redirect your thoughts during your busy days. Give
thanks for such a God.
