Daily Devotions Thursday October 12, 2006
The devotions this week are written by Karen Ludwig. The devotions direct
your thoughts to the theme of walking: God walking with us, our walking with
God.
God the Garden variety walker-
Verse 1
I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.
Chorus
And He walks with me, And He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
Verse 2
He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet, The birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me,
Within my heart is ringing.
Verse 3
I'd stay in the garden with Him,
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; Through the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling,
Why does this song have such a hold on us? I would like to suggest it is
because we are captured by its intimate portrayal of God. One that invites
us to see God as a loving parent, holding us close, telling us of His love
for us. One that we want to linger over a bit longer-
God, I love that you walk and talk with me, that you have given my heart a
song. Let me keep singing it!
