Daily Devotions Friday October 20, 2006

The devotions this week are written by Karen Ludwig. The devotions direct
your thoughts to the theme of walking: God walking with us, our walking with
God.

Walking in truth

3 John 1:2-4

"Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good
health, just as it is well with your soul. I was overjoyed when some of the
friends arrived and testified to your faithfulness to the truth, namely how
you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my
children are walking in the truth."

As we end our reflections on walking, we end with this wonderful prayer. A
holistic prayer, one that prays for good health and spiritual well being.
One that acknowledges how important walking in the truth is for these early
Christians just as it should be for us.

What would it look like to walk in the truth? I would suggest it would be
one of personal integrity, commitment to living a life responsive to a
higher calling than that of the world, one that discerns God's presence in
our life, one that makes known to others the importance of God's presence,
one that draws strength from that walk with Jesus. Need I go on? If someone
(a stranger) spent time with you, would they be able to tell that you are
walking in the truth?

I pray that all might go well with you and your soul as you walk in truth!
