Daily Devotions Friday October 27, 2006
The devotions this week are written by Pastor Barry Ludwig. In this week
before reformation Sunday, Pastor Barry looks at some of the better known
quotes from the pen of Martin Luther (1483-1546).
Luther Quote
"Pray, and let God worry."
There is much to worry about these days. There is even more to for which to
pray. The question that confronts us is which shall we throw our energy and
time into? Worry wears down joy and hope but prayer guards our hearts and
minds with a peace that comes from trusting one who is more wise and
powerful than we can begin to imagine. This is the eternal One who created
the cosmos. This is the loving One who sent his Son Jesus to bear our sins
and weaknesses on the cross. This is the powerful One who conquers death
itself . This is the faithful One who promises to be with us always.
What will it be for you today; worry or prayer? Prayer is not denial, it is
the confrontation of all the powers of darkness through the Lord who has
claimed us as his own.
Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of
God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your
minds in Christ Jesus."
