E-Devotions for Wednesday August 1, 2007

This week, we will explore Biblically our five senses; touch, taste, smell,
hearing, and seeing. (Pastor Ludwig)

John 20:27-28

"Then [Jesus] said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and
put out your hand, and place it in my side; do not be faithless, but
believing." Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"

Touch

There is a new field of healing therapy for infants and for adults called
"Touch Therapy." It is based upon the premise that we are comforted and made
to feel secure through gentle and loving physical contact. Such safe touch
promotes healing. When our daughters were little and would come to their
mom with an "owie" she would always clean the wound, give it a gentle kiss,
put on the cream and band aid it. As I would watch, it was clear to me that
the most important healing component in this was the "buss" or kiss from
Mom. That touch made it all well again.

Jesus is the physical touch of God's love for you. He was born into flesh
and blood in order to "touch" our lives with the grace and strength of the
God who created us. He offers us his arms to hold us through the ups and
downs of this day. He offers us forgiveness, acceptance and healing.
