E-Devotions for Friday August 3, 2007
This week, we will explore Biblically our five senses; touch, taste, smell,
hearing, and seeing. (Pastor Ludwig)
John 9:25
He answered, .one thing I know, that though I was blind, now I see."
I know a woman who is not able to read this. She is legally blind and yet
she sees more wonder and joy than many people I know who can see with their
eyes, but seem to complain about everything and are blind in their heart and
soul.
The Scripture text above is a phrase from the story of Jesus healing a blind
man who is then "grilled" by the religious establishment in order to
discredit his healing and the power of Jesus who gave him his sight. While
describing a miracle of physical healing, John is really portraying the
irony of inner sight. The religious leaders who claim to have spiritual
sight are really quite blind to the workings of God in their midst. On the
other hand, this man who was blind, is now able to see with his eyes as well
as with his heart and soul. He was seeing with his eyes and with his faith.
The "newly sighted" man had forever reversed popular wisdom. Now, "believing
is seeing." Today, look at life with your eyes and with your faith.
