Zion's Daily Electronic Devotions is back after a sabbatical. We thank you
for your patience. This week Pastor Ludwig looks at friendship and friends.
Proverbs17:17
"A friend loves at all times, and a sibling shows solidarity in adversity. "
Linda was a childhood friend of mine who lived on my block. I remember her
after all these years because she ate crayons. I would draw with them on
the driveway (much to my parents frustration) and as I lay one color down to
reach for another, she would promptly begin to chew on it. I believe orange
was her favorite color (or should I say flavor). My parents did not like
Linda, especially after I finally gave in and decided that blue was my
favorite flavor (or should I say color). After eating that jumbo blue
crayon, I was sick for two days.
Too often we associate with people who love to gossip about others, complain
about everything and who eat crayons. Before we know it we are eating
crayons with them. Scripture encourages us to "hang out" with friends who
are a positive and are a healthy spiritual influence upon us and to avoid
those who will bring us down. Are you letting your friends and associates
influence you? Are they lifting you up or dragging you down? A true friend
is one who is positive and supportive in the good times and in the bad. Be a
good friend and choose wisely those who would be your friend.
